Denmark Sets Limits for Certain Phthalates in Consumer Products

The Danish Ministry of the Environment has published an Executive Order, BEK No. 1113/2012 to limit the presence of four phthalates in products for use indoor and materials parts in products that may come into contact with skin or mucous membrane.

Phthalates listed in the law, limited to a concentration of 0.1%, are:

•DEHP (bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate)
•BBP (benzylbutyl phthalate)
•DBP (dibutyl phthalate)
•DIBP (Diisobutyl phthalate)
The law does not apply to certain specific products (e.g. toys, cosmetics) and will enter into force on December 1st, 2013
